Because ovens and cooktops use gas and electricity, they need to be installed by licensed plumbers/gasfitters and electricians. It is a legal requirement now for all electric ovens and/or electric cooktops to have an isolator installed within two meters in plain sight marked with the type of appliance (e.g. cooker) it is operating. Once installed you should be given a compliance certificate which certifies that the oven or cooktop has been installed by a qualified electrician and/or plumber.
